DOMOTEX 2015 once again floored the industry and showcased the latest innovations and trends across all flooring types.
DOMOTEX Hannover 2015 has given the global floorcoverings industry an optimistic outlook for the year ahead. It has been described as an inspiring and innovative trade show that has become the meeting place for a vibrant sector and its clientele.
Following four action-packed days, the show’s organisers at Deutsche Messe declared a solid performance for the event. The international mix of exhibitors and attendees as well as the success of the unique Innovations@DOMOTEX once again confirmed the tradeshow’s reputation as a global attraction for decision-makers while acting as a prime venue for unveiling new innovations.
“This year’s DOMOTEX got international trading off to a splendid start, and has given the carpets and floorcoverings industry every reason to be optimistic about the year ahead,” stated Dr. Jochen Köckler, the Deutsche Messe Managing Board member in charge of DOMOTEX.
DOMOTEX 2015 attracted 40 000 visitors from 100 different countries, indicating a slightly higher figure of attendees compared to 2013. Even though a majority of visitors came from European Union countries, a significant upswing was noted in attendance from the Middle East and South, East and Central Asia.
DOMOTEX visitors were also highly qualified, with approximately 90% reporting that they were either buyers or involved in their companies’ purchasing decisions, and that they had come to Hannover with specific investment plans. In addition, more than 70% of all attendees were senior executives. An increase in the number of architects, interior designers and contract business professionals was also identified.
A staggering display of carpets and floorcoverings
DOMOTEX 2015 was staged in a total of 12 halls with 1 323 exhibitors from 63 different countries demonstrating their creativity and skill. Over 85% of these exhibitors came from abroad. DOMOTEX literally “floored” its audience with a stunning array of innovations across the featured product categories: resilient and textile floorcoverings, parquet and laminate flooring, woven and tufted carpets and application and installation technologies.
“The focus at this year’s DOMOTEX has been on unconventional materials, newly interpreted designs and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies,” enthused Dr. Köckler.
Innovations@DOMOTEX a major attraction
Once again, following its successful debut last year, the Innovations@DOMOTEX showcase was a great success. The Innovations@DOMOTEX areas were designed as a compact and clearly laid-out showcase for 70 outstanding innovations in textile and resilient floorcoverings, parquet and laminate flooring, as well as contemporary handcrafted carpets and rugs. For the first time, these three special areas also included innovations in application and installation products and services.
In great demand were the Guided Tours, with architectural and interior design experts presenting a selection of exhibitor innovations, as well as the Innovations@DOMOTEX Talks which highlighted key industry issues. There was also plenty of excitement surrounding the Carpet Design Awards, presented by Innovations@DOMOTEX.
It has become clear that DOMOTEX 2015 has set the foundation for a vast array of innovative floorcovering designs and trends, which will inspire international and local architecture and interior design and décor. Without a doubt, visitors are already anticipating what to expect at DOMOTEX Hannover 2016.
