DOMOTEX Asia/CHINAFLOOR reveals a significant number of new trends that will impact the flooring industry while demonstrating continual innovation.
Aligned with industry and leading trends, DOMOTEX Asia/CHINAFLOOR delivered exciting, new ideas to visitors from around the world. DOMOTEX Asia/CHINAFLOOR is considered the second largest international flooring show in the world, which once again gathered the industry for three eventful days at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre earlier this year.
It attracted 1 177 exhibitors (resulting in 140 000m² of exhibition space) and included pavilions from nine other countries, viz. Afghanistan, Belgium, Germany, India, Iran, Netherlands, Pakistan, Turkey and USA, with a record-breaking 42 386 professional visitors. Of the total 2014 visitors, 31 598 reside in China and 10 788 were from 102 countries around the globe. Even more significant are the numbers regarding exhibition space already booked for the 2015 show: 58,3% of exhibition space has already been confirmed, which is a 35,6% increase compared to exhibition sales performance made onsite in 2013.
The InnovAction flooring campaign entailed a uniquely designed area where 10 innovative ideas received significant interest from the media, industry experts and an impressive number of visitors. These new products excelled in terms of innovative designs and materials and others in terms of technology. For example, Inotec presented “Vertical” – a new locking system that vertically installs boards for faster installation while enabling the replacement of a floor board without causing any damage.
The InnovAction Awards saw Beaulieu International Group receive first prize with “Hydro Plus Laminate”, a new range for kitchen and bathroom floors that offers high water resistance. This year also saw the formation of GreenStep Asia – an awards programme in cooperation with Floor Covering Weekly. It focuses on green flooring solutions that highlight sustainable flooring ideas realised in Asia and was displayed at the show by exhibitors committed to the healthy development of the industry. It awarded six green initiatives by an authoritative jury of experts.
A recurring element of DOMOTEX Asia/CHINAFLOOR each year is to ensure that it keeps re-inventing itself every year. The variety of events (almost 500 in total) reflects the industry’s demand for a deeper knowledge of flooring products while taking advantage of networking opportunities. Another identifiable feature of this year’s exhibition relates to the success of the show’s onsite experience. This was achieved by installing several exhibition areas that highlight specific product categories and enable visitors to better understand the products on offer. For example, in one activity area visitors could witness live weaving while in another exhibition area they saw the installation of different heating systems.
Following the success of DOMOTEX Asia 2014, preparation is already underway for the 2015 exhibition, which will endeavour to offer another international event dedicated to the advancement of the flooring industry.
