Innovative techniques for skilled trades, modern approaches to retailing, new inspiration for commercial contracting plus exciting new materials and trends will be in the spotlight at DOMOTEX 2021 in Hannover, Germany from 15 to 18 January. The world trade show for floor coverings with this year’s theme ‘Cover New Ground’, aims to motivate individuals to go beyond previous strategies, visions and experiences in flooring design and applications, and look to the future.
Bringing incentives to the industry
Sonia Wedell-Castellano, global director at DOMOTEX, says now more than ever, society and the economy are being called upon to rethink every facet of life and we need new perspectives. She says the organising team of DOMOTEX 2021 is dedicated to providing the industry with incentives and a global marketplace where new contacts can be made and business deals sealed.
“We are discussing with industry players about contributions we can make to the success of our stakeholders through agenda-setting, storytelling, special platforms and additional offerings. We are increasing our benefits by swiftly reacting to the needs of exhibitors and visitors and ensuring a trip to the fair is more efficient and attractive than it already is,” says the global director.
A dynamic audience and new layout
A highly international scope and a high-calibre audience are key features of DOMOTEX with about 35 000 visitors, mostly from abroad, attending the last DOMOTEX for information and ordering purposes. Decision-makers accounted for 90% of all attendees, viewing the products and services of 1400 exhibitors from more than 60 nations.
According to Sonia, in 2021there will be a new exhibition layout with individual product categories having their own creative hotspots called Flooring Parks under the theme ‘Cover New Ground’. She says the new site plan is adapted to the needs of attendees to help them navigate their way around the exhibition grounds more quickly and conveniently.
Exclusive displays and hubs for business
Flooring Parks will display Carpets, Fibres and Yarns; Resilient Flooring and Design Flooring; Parquet and Laminate Flooring; and Application and Installation Technology, each on their own stage presenting forward-looking ideas on floor coverings. They will serve as inspiration for visitors, providing ideas for unusual product displays so that inspiration and business are brought together.
Sonia explains that exhibitors will have exclusive business hubs in hosted communication zones amidst the special areas, where manufacturers and customers can withdraw to a relaxing environment to conclude business deals. She says DOMOTEX will also continue to maintain its informative, high-calibre event programme with its Speakers Corner, guided tours and award ceremonies.
Well-known speakers and guides will cover exciting topics about the items on display, catering for the needs of the various target groups. A special highlight for hand-made carpets will be the presentation of the Carpet Design Awards and a special exhibition of the best nominees and winners of the awards.
“We will take care of the safety of guests by implementing the hygiene and distance concepts specified by the Robert Koch Institute, the German government public health institute. We are optimistic in these challenging times, and through Domotex 2021 aim to provide the flooring industry with a first-class platform and a clearly perceptible upswing for their businesses,” concludes Sonia.
