The 41st annual Loerie Awards concluded on 24 August at the Durban ICC. This year, about 2 500 entries were received, with 16% of the entries from outside South Africa. A total of 646 brands were represented by 281 agencies from 15 countries across Africa and the Middle East. The awards were judged by over 140 regional and international industry leaders in their fields including international Jury Presidents Nedal Ahmed, Tara McKenty, Ralf Heuel and Katja Thielen.
Some of the designers and architects who walked away with Loerie Awards at this year’s event include the following:
Kleine Rijke, an events venue near Hartbeespoort, designed by David Krynauw and Khanya Architects, was awarded a Grand Prix in the Design category – Architecture
A Gold Loerie in the Design – Fabric category went to Siemens and the King James Group.
A Bronze Loerie in the Design – Brand Identity & Collateral category goes to the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) and Superunion for People-Centered Architecture
Slee & Co. Architects and Hunting Lodge won a Loerie in the Design – Architecture Category
1 Discovery Place Interiors
A Bronze Loerie in the Design – Interior Design & Temporary Structures Category went to Interior Architecture and Paragon Group for the 1 Discovery Place Interiors
A Silver Loerie in Graphic Design – Posters and Environmental Graphics goes to Saint Restaurant and Grid Worldwide for Saint
