
The 2025 series of DAS CPD events kicked off in Johannesburg on 6 March 2025.
Hosted by the Media in Africa Group (MIAG), the events offer designers, architects, specifiers and other professionals within the built environment the opportunity to network and meet with a diverse range of suppliers in a single day.
Quality CPD presentations
Zutari’s Martin Smith and Istiaan Lubbe spoke on the Cox-designed Oman Across Ages Museum (OAAM), followed by Jocelyn and Jason Mazaham from Perception Architects, who shared their award-winning project, the Mother of Mercy Shrine.
In a presentation titled “A project with not your usual client”, Riaan Hollenbach of The Grey Whippet shared the challenges and benefits of working with an owner-builder.
Tony Danev of SVA International flew in from Port Elizabeth to share the design story of the award-winning digital planetarium science centre and research facility at Nelson Mandela University.
Design Trilogy’s Liana Els-Bull gave a personal discussion, titled “A story of hope, and a call to action”.
Cor Bosman presented her award-winning design for the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina, focussing on the issue of waste.
Australia-based Callie van der Merwe of COOOP unveiled its revolutionary EnviroHacking and design ethos.

Sandisha Juggpal and Danni Cooke from COBA were visiting from the United Kingdom. Willem Grove revealed insights into the 2024 Coverland Roof Tiles Award for Excellence.
Charlene le Roux delivered Blum’s trend alert about the “dirty kitchen” versus an “entertainer’s kitchen”. This was followed by MiTek’s Tshegofatso Mokale, who discussed transforming structural design.
