Fashion designer, Monki, recently teamed up with Flowcrete Hong Kong to create a unique flooring solution for its Hong Kong store. The brief was to convey the fashion designer’s vibrant, colourful and youthful image and Flowcrete Hong Kong rose to the occasion by supplying two tailor-made styles for the store, namely a dappled silver and black as well as a glitter gold flooring system. The two striking floor systems were applied next to each other across the store to create contrasting blocks of colour that spoke to the designer’s brand image as well as its target audience. Flowcrete’s system was specified for its versatile design potential, aesthetic qualities and its ability to provide the functionality required within the busy retail environment.
The entrance of the store and changing room areas received the glossy, light and dark patterned silver coating, while the majority of the shop floor was coated with the dazzling gold colour. A unique feature of this flooring project was the curved lines that the team used to separate the colours. These lines not only created an interesting aesthetic effect but also serve the practical purpose of demarcating different areas of the designer’s retail store.
In order to achieve the two custom colours, 200m2 of the smooth and sparkling epoxy resin floor finish Flowflake Kristalina was used. The same amount of fast-drying floor screed, Isocrete 1500, was also specified for the project to ensure a hardwearing underlayment for the resin floor finish.
It was critical for the project team to meet the tight deadlines of the project as the high rental rates meant that other trades had to be accommodated during the fit-out. The entire flooring project took only five days to complete thanks to the applicability of the products and the expertise of Flowcrete Hong Kong’s approved applicator.
The new look creates a lasting impression that reinforces the brand’s identity and the luxurious, eclectic, lively flooring speaks to the high-end fashion label that Monki has established in the market. The added benefit of this seamless epoxy system is that it is hardwearing and therefore able to avoid scratches, scuffs and stains.
Flowcrete is proud to be involved in this project and the company is delighted with the aesthetics and practical solutions that the decorative epoxy system was able to provide this high-end fashion retail store.
