Curing compounds

a.b.e.® Saint-Gobain, a leading provider in the field of concrete works, repair and protection, has expanded its product offerings to include the duracure range of curing compounds.

Designed to retain moisture in freshly poured concrete, these compounds ensure effective curing and significantly reduce the risk of shrinkage cracks. The comprehensive range is developed to cater for various concrete application needs, encompassing diverse formulations.

 Duracure range

Acrylic-based curing compound: Excellent durability and ultraviolet (UV) resistance. Ideal for outdoor and indoor applications. It dries clear, therefore it will not cause staining on off-shutter concrete applications and can receive more coatings.

Wax-based duracure WB compound: Particularly effective in forming a moisture-retentive film on the concrete surface, promoting uniform curing. Dries clear with no staining but should not be used where overlay coatings will be required.

White-pigmented duracure WPR: Ideal for spray application on large areas such as airport aprons, concrete roads, bridge decks or external hardstands. Light reflectance and heat reduction off the concrete surface to minimise plastic drying shrinkage cracking.

a.b.e.® enhances concrete with duracure curing compounds range

These water-based formulations are friendly to the environmentally, easy to apply and clean up, and for spray application to large areas.

Solvent-based petroleum resin compounds are quick-drying solutions with superior adhesion for projects requiring fast turnaround times. duracure SBC a clear resin or SBW a white resin are liquid membrane-forming, which facilitates improved hydration – thus increasing strength, wear resistance and reducing dusting. Ideal for concrete floors and external hardstands.

Pliolite resin-based curing compound, duracure PR: Exceptional performance in maintaining moisture retention, especially in challenging environmental conditions.  It is a multi-purpose curing, sealing and protective membrane that acts as a primer and final coat for external applications, as a primer for bitumen and asphalt overlays, and as a topcoat for concrete structures and windfarm tower bases.

 Concrete technology

The introduction of the duracure range signifies a.b.e.®’s dedication to advancing concrete technology in South Africa, contributing to the overall quality of construction projects and resilience in infrastructure.

These compounds address the critical aspect of moisture retention during the curing process, enhancing the durability and longevity of concrete structures.
