Aerolite thermal and acoustic glass wool ceiling insulation slows down heat loss or gain, which in an uninsulated house can be as much as 35%, and offers a payback in less than two years.
A typical uninsulated home gains or loses up to 35% of its energy through the ceiling. This results in a home that is uncomfortably hot in summer and cold in winter.
The South African building regulations (SANS10400-XA) prescribe that all new homes must have a certain level of insulation in their roofs to meet specific performance requirements based on certain climatic zones. Rising costs have also forced a need to conserve energy and reduce electricity usage.
Glass wool ceiling insulation
Aerolite is a thermal and acoustic glass wool ceiling insulation that dramatically slows down heat loss or gain. It offers a payback in less than two years by reducing a home’s energy requirements with continued savings thereafter.
With exceptional acoustic insulation and soundproofing properties, it enhances indoor environments by absorbing noise from both inside and out.
In addition, Aerolite is a certified non-combustible product, which means it won’t burn, smoke or melt in a fire, making it a safe option.
How is it made?
Aerolite is manufactured by Isover, a division of Saint-Gobain, from 80% recycled glass , naturally occurring silica sand and fluxing agents resulting in a product that has Zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) and no CFC’s or HCFC’s are produced in the process.
Isover’s factory in Springs saves more than one hundred times the energy consumed and CO2 emitted from manufacturing, transporting and disposing.
Aerolite blankets are supplied in flexible compression packed rolls for easy manoeuvring and cutting inside a roof. Easy and safe to install, they can simply be laid on top of an existing ceiling.
Isover manufactures a wide range of thermal and acoustic insulation solutions for applications in residential, commercial and industrial buildings and technical applications. Products include glass wool, mineral wool and expanded polystyrene (EPS) solutions.
