A new carpet range offers several commercial benefits and performs at its best when installed in the correct environment and commercial space.
The collective number of years of design experience and innovation brought into the partnership between FloorworX and Avance Carpets in 2014 led to the manufacturing of Renaissance, an exclusive solution-dyed polypropylene carpet tile range for FloorworX.
According to FloorworX, polypropylene is the second most widely used carpet fibre after nylon, making polypropylene carpeting one of the best known for its chemical resistance and UV stability. It is also more resistant to water-based stains when compared to nylon; however, it can be more vulnerable to oil-based stains and grease than nylon.
Renaissance was manufactured and treated in a manner that makes it soil-resistant with anti-mildew qualities while being oil- and water-repellent to ensure easy maintenance and spot removal. Each carpet tile is also backed with market-recognised bitumen magnetite backing that provides stability and weight to the tile. This backing solution allows the tile to be uplifted and re-laid if need be.
Since polypropylene is solution-dyed, it is the most colourfast of all fibres. Consequently, the Renaissance range is made from 100% solution-dyed polypropylene, thereby ensuring a good level of colourfastness as well as UV protection. This is why Renaissance carpet tiles will perform well in an area exposed to sunlight.
Less expensive than nylon, polypropylene is a good fibre choice for a carpet that does not need to be particularly durable. Polypropylene fibre is not as resilient as nylon fibre and doesn’t bounce back as readily, which may cause the pressure of furniture to crush the fibres, leaving behind indentations.
However, to resolve such issues, the Renaissance range has been constructed to ensure a low-loop pile as it prevents the carpet tiles from being crushed or matted with high foot traffic. The Renaissance range also offers hardwearing durability with a 5-year manufacturing guarantee and a 10-year wear warranty.
Polypropylene fibre carpets such as Renaissance are best used in low-traffic locations – such as commercial applications including computer rooms – because, unlike nylon carpets, they don’t create static-electric charges.
Polypropylene carpet is also popular for use in retirement and nursing homes as wheelchairs roll over its low-loop pile easily. In addition, its stain-resistant properties make it a good choice for places where children and pets might cause spills, such as family rooms and crèches. In addition, it is ideal for damp areas such as pool changing rooms or basements.
Renaissance carpet tiles are available in a variety of colours that will enable FloorworX to approach the commercial market with a soft flooring component. This range has been designed in a discreet lineal pattern providing the carpet with a stringent and contemporary look that is well aligned with market trends.
NOTE: Renaissance carpet tiles should be installed in a tessellated design following the arrows on the back of the tiles which indicate the direction. Renaissance carpet tiles CANNOT be monolithically installed.
