Offering new carpet tile shapes and sizes to add flexibility and encourage creativity.
Modulyss*, a Belgium-based company that forms part of the Balta Group, specialises in the manufacturing of modular carpet tiles and is exclusively distributed by Van Dyck. Modulyss designs and manufactures carpet tiles for the international contract market that strives to offer endless creative possibilities to bring a stylish and exclusive look to a floor.
To capitalise on the growing demand for products that offer creative flair and enhanced interior offerings, Modulyss created New Shapes, a new collection that consists of three new sizes: 25cm x 100cm, 50cm x 100cm and 100cm x 100cm, giving a new dimension of creativity by broadening its choice offerings. Modulyss already has significant experience in manufacturing square-shaped (50cm x 50cm and 60cm x 60cm) carpet tiles, created to offer design flexibility and to quickly adapt to interiors of all shapes and sizes.
It is for this very reason that architects and designers are drawn to this collection so as to incorporate textile flooring into their projects. By thinking “out of the square”, this collection is able to offer a diverse choice of colour, structure and pattern, offering several creative possibilities that can transform the mood of an interior environment while defining the space.
From conception to actualisation
New Shapes significantly broadens the familiar 50 x 50cm carpet tile and introduces greater carpet design variety to the flooring industry. Using the same geometric principles that have made modular carpet so adaptable and kept it inherently flexible, this collection’s three different shapes come together to create limitless flooring layouts by offering rectangular carpet tiles of 25 x 100cm as well as 50 x 100cm; and square carpet tiles of 100 x 100cm.
Using the same basis of geometrics, but improving on the flexibility of the traditional carpet tile, New Shapes is entirely adaptable, working individually, together and in combination with 50 x 50cm square formats. This enables the exploration of endless combinations of layout, colour, texture and shape, while enabling the discovery of new flooring design possibilities.
New Shapes aims to be more than a functional solution to a functional requirement by adding dynamic intent to a floor. With structures, shades and designs sampled from as many as 27 Modulyss modular carpet collections, it can create a floor that works for any interior. Furthermore, when it comes to the secondary backing, New Shapes has no functional limitation either and can be used on either bitumen backing or dBack acoustic backing. This ensures an effortless installation, making it easy to replace or change a floor design.
Due to the geometric principles adopted by New Shapes, this modular collection is simple to install, be it ashlar, brick, herringbone, monolithic or random.
Just like conventional Modulyss modular flooring, New Shapes delivers the performance required to meet the demands of busy spaces.
This is the standard by which all modular carpet is judged right across Europe. A standardised assessment of the technical performance of modular carpet, EN 1307 looks at castor-chair suitability, light fastness, sound absorption, impact noise rating and more. New Shapes fully complies with all these requirements.
The Use Class indicates how durable the carpet can be. Commercial applications can be either Class 32 Commercial General or Class 33 Commercial Heavy. New Shapes upholds the Use Class of the Modulyss carpet tile collections.
New Shapes is certified to the strictest European standard for fire safety, achieving a Bfl-s1 classification, the highest possible class for textile floorcoverings.
Whether bitumen or dBack, both secondary backings are made with recycled content, reducing the impact on the environment.
With New Shapes, squares and rectangles combine to add flexibility and to ensure that modular carpet can function within any chosen interior, from offices to hotel rooms, bringing new shape to any flooring.
