While the trend towards green roofs is clear, what are the genuine effects and benefits of it? 

The Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e.V. (BuGG) in Berlin is both a professional association and an advocacy group for all those interested in building greening. 

The BuGG deals primarily and comprehensively with building greening, i.e., with roof, facade, interior and other building greening to present the advantages and possibilities of building greening. 

Its research of greened roof areas in Germany, assuming extensive greening, shows the benefits of greening one square metre in the graphic below.
