The crafting of luxurious handwoven rugs is set for new inspiration as Fibre Designs announced its exclusive collaboration with RK Contemporary, a Riebeek-Kasteel based art gallery in De Waterkant, Cape Town.  

This partnership brings together Fibre Designs’ expertise in crafting luxurious, handwoven rugs and RK Contemporary’s commitment to curating contemporary South African art.

RK Contemporary is an offshoot of Gallery Riebeek-Kasteel, as a platform to showcase established contemporary artists as well as emerging South African talent. The gallery hosts monthly exhibitions featuring contemporary art across a variety of disciplines. 

Themed exhibitions touch on thought-provoking socially relevant issues, such as identity, gender and the environment. 

Exhibitions 

As part of the collaboration, RK Contemporary will curate regular exhibitions at the Fibre Designs Studio in De Waterkant. These will feature contemporary art through the mediums of painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking and ceramics.
