Designed by Icon Projects Inspace Pvt Ltd (IPIPL), Ambrish Agarwal is a treat for the eyes. The elegantly crafted 2 000 square feet home in Kolkata whisks one away in a grand set-up of monotones.
This holiday home is the perfect space for hosting a celebration. Using accent hues of greens, golds and blues along with a consistent G40 wall texture throughout, the space is magical during the day, as well as at night.
Warm welcome

A palette of brown and beige is offset with accents of black, green and gold in the bar and dining room area.
The use of brown and beige in the entrance lobby brings in a welcoming warmth while the flooring pattern acts as a wayfinding tool, leading to the main door.
The entrance door design breaks the linearity of the space through the radially converging design. The console, a staple element of the IPIPL design strategy, leads to a well-concealed shoe rack right beside it.
Layered living

A neutral palette of browns and greys is offset with jewel tones of green, blue and gold.
A formal living area creates a transition to the much larger informal living room. The tonality of this space merges the soft tones of the entrance and the rugged tones of the formal living.
An interplay of browns and greys, with a large window, connects to the outside. The entire space plays with strategies of layering, where the offsets near the window and television create a beautiful differentiation between the inside and the outside.
Shape and colour

Rounded edges within the space balance out the rigidity of the linear seen on the verticals.
Rounded edges within the space balance out the rigidity of the linear seen on the verticals. With marble used throughout, the home is uplifted to elegance and grandeur.
A dining area and bar area feature strong accents of green and gold. Resin barstools and a matching bar front are complimented by a black countertop and metalwork within the space. This palette flows into the dining area with beige upholstery, a black tabletop, and geometric gold furniture stands and legs.

The striking green resin barstools and bar front add jewel tones to a neutral palette.
Fine finishing
The bedrooms display the complementary, yet independent, use of wallpapers on the walls. The use of vertical lines is the primary design driver of the space with fluted panelling, a stitched headboard and draping.

The bedrooms feature a range of finishes including wallpaper, fluted panelling, stitched headboards and draping.
In keeping with other parts of the home, the washroom showcases accents of gold and greens, set against strong black backdrops. The white marble balances these darker themes, allowing the light to reflect.
This home is a personification of indulgence. With a uniform palette throughout, it depends on the principles of rhythm and balance to achieve a level of grandiosity and exuberance.

The same colours are revealed in the bathroom, with white marble to balance these darker themes.
