Tucked away on a quiet road in Germiston is M.E.L International School. This private school has been reimaged and reconstructed from a row of older homes, into an elegantly styled school, as well as a boarding house facility for pupils during the school week.

Schoolroom spotlight 

PVC foamboards cut into a wall-panel effect, paired with mouldings, to create a detailed wall covering in the common areas of the boarding school.

Polywood fluted wall panels were used to create a focal wall for the front of the classrooms, and in the library. This provides a modern backdrop to this well decorated environment, which is designed to be inviting and engaging for the pupils. 

These distinctive panels have also been used on the walls and ceilings in the administration offices, in a warm bronze shade. 

Stylish dormitories 

The school dormitories are in houses across the school, which have been completely renovated and combined into a cohesive space for the weekly boarders. Here Amari’s Polywood fluted panels have been placed as accents on the walls and as a backdrop to the stairs in the matric dormitories. The effect is a luxurious home away from home for the pupils.  

Wall art 

In the communal areas and passages of the boarding school, PVC foamboards were cut by computer numerical control (CNC) into a wall-panel effect. These were installed in intricate patterns with moulding, and LED lights on both walls and floors in a modern, eclectic design. 

PVC foamboards are low maintenance, moisture resistant and paintable, ensuring a long-lasting solution for the school.
