The 20th edition of DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR concluded on 22 March 2018. This year’s event marked the largest turnout in the exhibition’s history, utilising an impressive show space of 160 000m² and welcoming over 60 000 visitors from 104 countries.

The top five international countries at the event were South Korea, USA, Japan, India and Malaysia. There were 1418 exhibitors in total with 281 exhibitors coming from outside China.
Susanne Klaproth, Director of DOMOTEX World, commented: “The greatness of this exhibition was visible in the participation. It’s a good feeling to see our brand earning more international attention and respect. Especially in Asia, we foresee enormous potential for the platform as construction and flooring projects continue to increase in the region.”

Some of the highlights of this year’s event included an international carpet delegation, a luxury brands carpet show, the 2018 InnovAction Flooring Campaign, a VIP hosted buyers’ delegation, a gala dinner and more.

Luxury Brand Carpet Show
This year was the second time that the Luxury Brands Carpet Show was held at the exhibition. The event was once again very popular with attendees, especially as the pavilion had grown in size to feature more of the industry’s high-end luxury rug designers from around the world. The pavilion was set up as a gallery style viewing area that naturally led visitors to each company’s carpet art.

“Luxury brands came out with a bang for its second year in Shanghai,” commented Erika Kurtz COO of New Moon Rugs. “We had a fabulous group of the world’s premier rug brands working to increase the exposure of hand-made rugs in this up-and-coming market. This year also brought new and exciting buyers and it looks as if the luxury handmade rug industry is beginning to gain momentum throughout mainland China.”

As the taste for extravagant interior design and flooring decoration intensifies in China, DOMOTEX predicts that luxury brands will continue to increase in popularity, buyer potential, and excitement for the display’s extravagant hand-made rug designs.

Best product winners
A staggering 400 products and materials from the carpet, resilient and wood sectors were launched at the 2018 InnovAction Flooring Campaign. Two weeks before the opening, the voting for the top 10 best products took place. Products were judged on quality, durability and style and were showcased in display areas that were designed by globally renowned architect, Kostas Chatzigiannis. Some of the award-winning concepts introduced included the French Cobble Stone collection from Dalian Shumaike, GEMP heavy-duty, industrial flooring from Widehigh Technology, and the dense fibre Flock Carpet from Jiashan Bohua.

Wood flooring experts hosted for an official business ceremony
An official business ceremony for wood flooring experts across the globe was hosted in Nanxun. To increase business collaboration between wood flooring suppliers from Asia and international buyers, the delegates participated in personalised match-making meetings and factory tours.

One of the delegates, Roberto Dos Ramos from Grupo Europisos S.A Panama, commented: “I had the pleasurable experience being a part of the 2018 Nanxun – VIP Hosted Buyers Program with DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR. I can assure everyone that this was an event of excellence to the last detail, from meeting the itinerary programme with the suppliers, visits to their factories to the quality of enterprises with which we interacted.”
