Technical Finishes is proud to present one of its spectacular flooring systems installed at CYMOT’s flagship store in Windhoek, Namibia.  

Spanning 3 750m², the floors blend natural materials with advanced technology, offering both aesthetic appeal and exceptional durability. 

Axel Theissen, chairman of CYMOT, explains: “For our CYMOT Hilltop flagship store, we wanted a long-lasting floor that would stand the test of time. We intentionally decided not to pursue the standard tiles and/or concrete finish floor, but selected Technical Finishes’ Marble Stone TZ system, which incorporates the natural stone found to the south of the capital city, Windhoek.”

Non-traditional 

The decision to move away from traditional flooring was driven by a desire for something fresh and unique. As a flagship location, CYMOT wanted a flooring solution that not only looked exceptional but could also withstand the high traffic of a busy retail environment.  

After meeting with the client, architect, engineer, main contractor and applicator, Technical Finishes recommended the Marble Stone TZ system. This is an epoxy-modified, decorative terrazzo flooring system of industrial strength and performance. 

Product selection 

The Marble Stone TZ system offers a hard-wearing, ultraviolet (UV)-stable surface, which is ideal for environments with high foot and trolley traffic.  

To ensure even greater protection and longevity, the system was sealed with Techfin Ultraguard HP, a nano-lithium sealer and densifier. This high-performance product improves the wear resistance and durability of the flooring system, while also offering UV protection.

Project management 

Meticulous planning and coordination were key to the project’s success. Manufacturing and logistics were critical, and all deadlines were met with precision to keep the project on track.  

Technical Finishes was responsible for providing technical on-site support and ensuring that a stringent quality control plan was drawn up and followed. The involvement of an approved applicator was also essential to ensure that the installation met the high standards expected of a flagship store.
