4 Steps to rescuing and reimagining nylon

A human being’s appetite to create new products and buy new products is infinite, but the planet’s resources aren’t.

ECONYL is a registered brand of Aquafil, one of the biggest yarn manufacturers in the world that supply yarns to Van Dyck and also Modulyss. The product is exactly the same as carpeting created from brand new nylon, as nylon can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again.

This is the process of reusing existing nylon waste for the range:

Step 1: Rescue
Nylon waste from fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic from landfills and oceans all over the world is collected, sorted and cleaned to recover as much nylon as possible.

Step 2: Regenerate
Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity. This means the regenerated nylon is exactly the same as virgin nylon.

Step 3: Remake
ECONYL regenerated nylon is processed into carpet yarn and textile yarn for the fashion and interior industries.

Step 4: Reimagine
Fashion brands and carpet producers use the range to create brand new products. This nylon also has the potential to be recycled infinitely, without ever losing its quality.

ECONYL regenerated nylon is not only a solution to lowering waste, it also reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 80% when compared to the process of manufacturing nylon from oil.
