After recognising a need for a coloured liquid rubber waterproofing option in the local construction market, DuGill Manufacturing developed EcoCoat – a seamless product that is applied like paint, but which cures into a rubber to provide a perfect seal.
“A cost-effective alternative to torch-on systems, EcoCoat comes in a variety of standard roof colours as well as special mix colours and can be applied with a brush, roller or airless spray machine,” says Jacques du Plessis, Shareholder of DuGill Manufacturing.
“This product provides a two-in-one solution to colour and seal roofs in a single application, thereby saving both time and money,” he adds. “Membrane is only required in areas where there are gaps or holes that are bigger than 5mm.”
The locally manufactured EcoCoat solution is a water-based, eco-friendly product that is ultraviolet (UV)-protected with 500% elongation. It is fit for waterproofing any type of roof surface including concrete slabs, tiles, asbestos, IBR roof sheeting, and Chromadek whilst the Heavy Duty Bitumen Liquid Rubber is used for these same surfaces as well as dams, ponds and box gutters.
EcoCoat has been successfully used to seal the roof slabs of the green, planted roofs at the Haute Cabriere Wine Estate in Franschhoek, grain silos in Lichtenburg, wooden decks at the coast as well as numerous roofs of private homes.
