More than 72 700m² of Dekton® by Cosentino ultra-compact surfaces and over 1 600m² of Silestone® by Cosentino were used in the development of two new hotel complexes in Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The Hipotels Gran Playa de Palma (four-star) and Hipotels Playa de Palma Palace (five-star) opened earlier this year.
Facade cladding
The ventilated facade of the four-star hotel building consists of 9 000m² of Dekton® in the colour Edora. In proximity to the sea, Dekton® provides optimum resistance to erosion and ultraviolet light, and boasts colour stability and high stain resistance.

Wall cladding in wet and dry areas
In vertical installations, the 8mm-thick, large-format pieces allow uniform cladding and the flatness of the product is striking. Walls made entirely of Dekton® can be seen in the bedrooms, common areas, dining rooms and bars in a wide range of tones: Soft, pale colours such as Ariane and Blanc Concrete, spectacular glossy finishes such as XGloss Halo and XGloss Glacier, the wooden effect of Makai and the industrial appearance of Trilium. Interestingly, Trilium is made with 80% recycled materials.

Thanks to its high resistance to hydrolysis and therefore excellent performance in damp or wet environments, Dekton® was also selected to clad the walls of the en suite bathrooms, heated swimming pool and spa in the five-star hotel.

Architectural elements
Dekton® further allowed architectural details, such as the elegant pillars that decorate the halls of both hotels, to become a reality. For the four-star hotel the subtle colour Edora has been chosen, while for the five-star hotel the glossy finish of the white tone Halo has been selected. The bedroom entrances of the four-star hotel are also made of bespoke Dekton® door frames in the colour Danae.

Silestone® in the common areas
In the bars and dining rooms of both hotels, Silestone® was applied extensively. The colour Blanco Zeus was used on the counters and facades, as well as on the spectacular reception desk of the four-star hotel. Exquisite dark finishes, such as Carbono and Negro Stellar, have also been chosen for some interior counters in both hotels.

Silestone® is ideal for these applications thanks to its ease of cleaning and maintenance, high resistance to impact and scratching, and custom manufacture.

Finally, the product was also used in the en suite bathrooms to create bespoke counters and exclusive wash basins. The visual continuity provided by a single piece of Silestone® brings cutting-edge flair and high-performance qualities such as strength, high resistance to stains and scratching, and low liquid absorption to the bathroom environment.
