Colours are being embraced in new and different ways throughout the environments in which we live, work and play. The psychology of colour is being studied in order to determine the effects of colour and how to use them. Colour was the main inspiration behind Palettone, Polyflor’s spectacularly colourful new homogeneous flooring collection.

The new collection was recently launched at the Melrose Art Gallery. Kwanele Nomoyi and Marlene van Rooyen, FLOORS in Africa magazine’s Editor in Chief, attended the event along with other key industry players including architects from Osmond Lange Architects and the representatives from the Department of Health and Department of Infrastructure.

“The launch was expertly executed and generated excitement about the advances that are being made in the flooring sector,” says Marlene.

“It is great to see local companies pushing the boundaries in terms of colour and performance in flooring products. I’m keen to see these products installed in world-class projects within our borders,” adds Marlene.

The premium Palettone range offers a full spectrum of colour, with 50 shades to choose from including classic neutrals, soothing pastels and daring brights. Featuring a non-directional, semi-matt emboss for the even distribution of light reflectance, the range is split into seven colour palettes – Cool Greys, Warm Greys, Greens, Blues, Pink Purples, Yellow Reds and Beige Browns.

“If we look carefully around us our natural world is wonderfully made up of concealed textures and materials that create beautiful arrangements of colours and shades. It is a world of light reflecting colour of every tone and hue we can possibly imagine,” said Polyflor CEO, Tandy Coleman, at the launch.

All 50 Palettone shades are available in 2 x 20m sheet format, while 12 of these shades are also available in 608 x 608mm tiles and 6 in an SD sheet specification.

“It’s exciting to see South African flooring companies like Polyflor bringing in new ranges into the country. The specifying market is sure to receive the new range and beautiful colour options well,” concludes Roxanne Mancini, Sales & Marketing Manager at FLOORS.
