Diamond Products, which supplies tools & equipment for the flooring industry, has noted an increase in polished concrete surfaces.
The demand for durable, economical and low maintenance flooring is higher than it’s ever been. With this in mind, the flooring industry has been evolving over many years to offer a range of ideal solutions for any flooring requirements. Through this evolving process, polished concrete floors was introduced in 1999 and is now one of the fastest growing trends in terms of flooring options.
“We have been supplying tools and equipment to the flooring industry for three years and have certainly seen a huge increase in polished concrete surfaces,” says Brian Clark, Director of Diamond Products. “We believe the reason for the increase in this trend are the many benefits that a polished concrete floor offers”.
According to Brian, a polished concrete floor does not require any material other than a concrete slab. Therefore, the process is far cheaper than that of conventional methods. “Polished concrete is extremely durable which makes it far more resistant to high foot traffic and industrial machinery,” he concludes. “Once sealed, it then becomes a stain resistant and non-slip surface. This makes polished concrete less vulnerable to damage and it therefore does not need to be replaced.”
