With over 15 years’ experience in the flooring and building industry, the company had a vision to create a showroom that not only houses a variety of home finishing products but also one in which designers, architects and home owners could explore and be inspired.

The brand new Florstore OnTrend showroom was opened in the stylish The Point Mall in Sea Point in October 2014. This space enabled the company to bridge the gap between client and supplier and allowed ideas and inspiration to be shared freely over a good cup of coffee at their in-house coffee bar.

Angelique Victor, Operations Manager, says that the Florstore OnTrend showroom is an interactive space where, besides supplying and installing various products, they are prepared to source the products needed by designers and architects.

“Many times, an architect or designer will come to us with pictures or samples of what they want and then we work our magic to bring their vision to life. Whether we can find a solution locally or need to source it internationally, we go above and beyond to find the appropriate products and fittings,” says Angelique.

The showroom offers plug and play IT work stations so that designers can sit and work with clients on their project plans and is also available for client functions and networking events.

“We love having people in our showroom. At least once a week, we host a tour for architects, designers and quantity surveyors. We either have a morning tour with a breakfast, an afternoon tour with lunch or a late afternoon tour with cocktails so that our existing and potential clients can see what we have to offer and what is trending,” says Angelique.

The sales team at Florstore OnTrend is very much focused on staying at the cutting edge of international design trends. The company’s stakeholders travel to important international fairs, such as the Milan Design Fair, to make sure that all of the latest products and styles are represented locally. The sales team also regularly visits architect and designers’ studios and keeps their libraries stocked with the latest and trending floor finishes. Another benefit of partnering with Florstore OnTrend is that the company has their own in-house installers and project managers, offering a truly one-stop design solution.

“We prefer not to sub-contract installations and our in-house installation teams are fully trained on product installations. We offer project management free of charge and have project managers on all our corporate project sites. Our showroom consultants are skilled in the latest offerings, so our showroom is more than just a showpiece, it is a place to obtain technical and product specific expertise as well,” explains Angelique.

“Our in-depth knowledge of everything that’s available in our showroom is what sets us apart from the competition. Our OnTrend Partners know that if their products are sold to our clients, it will go hand-in-hand with the correct consultation, knowledge and installation processes,” says Angelique.

The company recently employed a bathroom consultant that can take a project from the design concept to complete bathroom renovation. Besides advising on taps and fittings, this consultant has experience in everything that happens behind the walls as well.

“Our new bathroom consultant is willing to do full rendering of the project for the client and she can advise on everything from design ideas to the details involving waste disposal,” says Angelique.

Florstore OnTrend runs an annual designer showcase where final year design students are required to submit creative designs for installation in their 1.2m x 1.45m OnTrend Box displayed in the showroom window. The designs are then judged by the Florstore OnTrend team, based on creativity, interactive potential and ease of installation. The display box opens on both sides and the students are required to showcase the products of OnTrend Partners in new, unique ways.

“This is a rewarding and helpful experience for the winning design students because they are involved in the quantifying, ordering and installation process. It also benefits the design industry as a whole by upskilling and empowering the future designers of our country,” concludes Angelique.
