Established 58 years ago in 1962, Nouwens has experienced prosperous as well as tough times. Luci Nouwens says that while 2019 has been the company’s toughest year to date, its turnaround strategy will gear it for a new decade of unique opportunities that the entire business is excited about.

Stocking best-sellers and tapping into market opportunities
The first part of Nouwens’ turnaround strategy is ensuring that their product offering is focused and well-supported. The company has made a commitment to ensure a consistent availability of stock of its current bestsellers, as well as researching market opportunities for new product developments. Luci Nouwens has told the market to “watch this space” for new innovation that is synonymous with the Nouwens brand.
“Our sales figures show that the top selling colours in our broadloom and commercial tile ranges amount to almost 80% of sales. To capitalise on this information we will be launching our new point of sale material which will include convenient combo swatches in our Nouwens Wool, Nylon and Easifibre Collections. The new point of sale material is in production and will be delivered to all contractors.
Another major growth area for Nouwens is artificial landscape turf as clients are increasingly looking for aesthetically pleasing, low maintenance and eco-conscious solutions for their outside areas.
“We’ve developed several turf variations within our Fieldturf ranges with natural cross-sections and colour combinations. While we have been limited by yarn supplies which are shipped out of Europe by our strategic partners Tarkett, we have a container on the water at present which will augment our current landscape stock position.
Lastly, the company has been investing in improving their customer service. “Whether you are a designer, a specifier or one of our suppliers, your requests will continue to be treated with a sense of urgency by knowledgeable, helpful staff. By the end of this year, I look forward to toasting Nouwens’ success with our internal and external stakeholders,” concludes Luci.
