St. Anne’s College in Pietermaritzburg launched their indoor sports centre in August 2015 with the installation of a specialised sports vinyl floor from Belgotex Floors.
The school’s indoor hockey, basketball and netball players enjoy the added safety and comfort of this specialised cushioned vinyl surface, which has attracted two new junior indoor hockey teams to the league.
“This is such an amazing facility,” says Megan Randall, indoor hockey coach at St. Anne’s. “We thoroughly enjoy using it and are now able to train longer and host more leagues at our own centre.”
As the most widely specified synthetic sports surface for indoor centres in Europe (including the recent FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Germany), Taraflex’s range of products offers a non-slip PVC surface with superior shock- or impact absorption, specifically designed to reduce the risk of injury whilst allowing for freedom of movement.
The unique and patented Protecsol triple-action surface treatment provides an “intelligent” surface for the ideal compromise between slide and grip, reducing the chance of skin-burns due to friction.
The innovative, closed cell foam construction reduces forces from high-impact sports and falls by 73%, simultaneously insulating against impact sounds and resisting abrasion from the twists and turns of rubber soles, tackles and other friction. The surface also allows for perfect ball roll and skills execution in indoor hockey and the correct ball bounce and movement interaction for basketball and netball players.
