Light-traffic, self-levelling compound launched

A new locally manufactured self-levelling compound called Ultraplan Eco 20, ideal for use in residential and light-traffic areas, has been launched in February by Mapei South Africa, a manufacturer of chemical and adhesive products for the construction industry. This rapid-setting, fast-drying product is suitable for residential homes, hotels, theatres, schools and shopping centres.

Perfect to level thickness
Chad Tosen, technical sales consultant for soft coverings and industrial flooring at Mapei South Africa, says they are excited to launch Ultraplan Eco 20, which was developed after the company received numerous requests from the market for an innovative new product for residential and light traffic areas. He says once mixed with water, this self-levelling solution can be applied with a trowel or pin rake and is used in interiors for levelling and smoothing differences in thicknesses from 1 to 10 mm on new or existing substrates.

“This prepares the surface to receive flooring where a high resistance to loads and traffic is needed. Ultraplan Eco 20 has the benefits of Ultraplan Eco, but with a lower compressive strength than Ultraplan Eco, which has proven to be very successful and well received within the market,” says the technical sales consultant.

Easy to identify
“Ultraplan Eco 20 is easily identifiable on site, as the finished product is pale pink in appearance, which ensures the correct product is used for the right application. Mapei South Africa will soon also launch Ultraplan Maxi, a self-levelling solution to accommodate thicknesses from 3 to 40mm in a single application, while still including standard features of the Ultraplan range,” says Tosen.
