Legrand, global specialists in electrical and digital building infrastructures, have made a further commitment to the South African market with the full renovation and extension of their existing premises in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.

“Legrand’s recently completed refurbishment encompasses new offices, an interactive showroom and a training facility, which will be used for customer discovery visits, training sessions and product launch events,” says Luk Ivens, General Manager: Legrand Southern Africa. “Apart from general product displays, the 450 m² showroom includes theme rooms to showcase dedicated product solutions, emphasising home automation, hospitality, healthcare and the office environment.”

“Legrand’s products have been installed throughout the building to reflect the company’s comprehensive stylish and functional solutions, which are adaptable to specific requirements.”

“Understanding and satisfying the needs of distributors, electricians and specifiers, as well as being able to anticipate market trends, is an essential part of the Legrand approach.”

“As a member of the global Legrand Group, which employs over 35 000 people in more than 70 countries, the Southern African operation ensures the local market keeps abreast with the latest international developments.”

“This renovation initiative will significantly improve brand awareness and enhance the company’s position in a developing sector, whilst contributing to a solid growth platform for the South African subsidiary,” says Ivens.

The installation encompasses fully functional distribution boards, Soluflex raised flooring and structured cabling throughout the offices. Apart from trunking – designed for efficient power and data networking – floor boxes, desk modules and diverse wiring devices, Legrand also highlights its sophisticated lighting management and automation systems. Access control, CCTV and many other components have also been installed.

To mark the official opening of Legrand’s new premises, the company hosted an inauguration function for key players, including investors, architects, interior designers, consultants, distributors and the press.

Flexible, efficient cable management

Legrand’s cable management systems for flooring consist of a flexible, low-level floor cable system, DLP and over-floor trunking, surface or flush mounting floor units, as well as distribution-column power and lighting mechanisms. Flooring components also include a comprehensive range of specially designed accessories, including cable markers and terminal blocks.

“Legrand’s cable management systems, which have been designed for flexibility and efficiency, as well as easy installation, aesthetic appeal and optimum safety, provide a complete solution to all electrical requirements, whether it is an original installation, extension or reconfiguration,” says Luk Ivens.

New from Legrand is the flexible, low-level Soluflex cable floor system, designed especially for the work environment. Soluflex – a highly efficient floor, cabling and connection technology system – is perfect for renovations in old premises that require additional electrical infrastructure, and also meets the needs of new low-voltage equipment and data network installations in modern buildings.

Legrand offers DLP black, white and grey trunking for modern installations. Typical applications include hotels, offices, shopping centres, theatres and luxury homes. Also new is an antimicrobial system for use in sterile environments, including hospitals and laboratories.

The antimicrobial range, which is manufactured from special bacteria-resistant materials, has been designed to reduce the risks of hospital-acquired infections in the healthcare sector.

This trunking, with an IP40 index protection rating and an IK07 protection classification against mechanical shocks, is available in 2 m lengths, with a cover width of 45 mm.

The DLP 3D range, which has been designed for floor-to-ceiling installation, ensures freedom for the efficient distribution of cables at ceiling level.

Legrand’s over-floor trunking creates a link between trunking, columns and floor units and provides maximum protection of power and data cables in passageways, between workstations and on columns.

Legrand’s pop-up floor boxes (which are available in five finishes – brushed brass, matt aluminium, brushed stainless steel, matt black and glossy white) ensure efficiency, flexibility, safety and enhanced aesthetics in any installation. These pop-up floor boxes, which can be fitted with Arteor mechanisms and accessories, are designed for optimum convenience and the neat arrangement of cables and wires of modular equipment and computer connections.

Legrand has gained credibility in South Africa for its state-of-the-art modular electrical accessories, emphasising cost efficiency, flexibility, safety and enhanced aesthetics. All Legrand products conform to stringent international quality and safety specifications. The range features innovative designs to meet exact user demands, also allowing for simple and efficient installation.
