Aletia Thomas, Sales Representative at FloorworX, embarked on a project to reinvent a play area for kids at Burger King’s new outlet in Goodwood, Cape Town, in June 2016. Together with her client, Dynamic Flooring, Aletia specified a new product from FloorworX to meet the brief of providing a durable, low maintenance and family friendly experience for the 300m² play area.
Aletia says that engaging with her client was one of the key contributors to the success of the project.
“An open collaborative spirit is one of the key ingredients to meeting and exceeding client briefs. Clients not only need designs, creativity and vision, they rely on the problem-solving abilities that are brought to the table during the project. To achieve a successful project-learning experiment, it was essential for me to have not only a positive ‘I can’ attitude, but also the ‘I enjoy’ feeling,” says Aletia.
Aletia adds that specific traits and behaviours as well as her ability to understand the client’s vision led to a great working relationship.
“Customers need to feel that the message they are sending is being correctly received and interpreted. Understanding my client’s vision, needs and taking responsibility to achieve them, is most important. Curiosity, openness, objectivity, confidence, responsibility and collaboration all led to a winning installation that everyone in the project team can be proud of,” concludes Aletia.
