After a 40 year working career, Steven Suntup has officially resigned from his job as Regional Sales Manager at FloorworX. He will also be standing down as Chairman of the Flooring Association of South Africa (SAWLFA).
Of his 40 working years, 30 have been spent in the flooring sector. Steven established the Suntups brand, which specialises in solid wood flooring, engineered single plank wood flooring and decking. Five years ago, Steven sold his business to FloorworX and he is now ready to retire and tick a few items off his bucket list. He plans to travel to America over the next few months to visit family and attend the biggest biking event in the world, namely the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He has also invested in a 100 acre bush farm in South Africa where he plans to retire, live off the grid and become as self-sustainable as possible.
“I have been extremely happy at FloorworX. It is a dynamic company with innovative products and a great team, led by a dynamic leader. I am proud and privileged to be a part of the company’s story,” says Steven.
“I would like to thank my customers for all the support they have given me over the years. We have made a difference and I hope that you’ll continue to enjoy my Suntups brand in the years to come. FloorworX is definitely the company that you should keep supporting going forward,” said Steven.
Before his departure, Steven reached out to FLOORS in Africa magazine and said that he has put his heart and soul into the flooring industry over the past thirty years and that he appreciates the work the publication has done.
“Schalk Burger, the late founder of FLOORS, and I would often sit at my old offices in Edenvale and chat about the industry. Schalk was a good man and he was passionate about the magazine. He has passed on this passion to his daughter, current Managing Editor Liezel van der Merwe. Schalk would have been proud of how the magazine has evolved and how it continues to stay true to his original intent,” said Steven.
Liezel van der Merwe, Managing Editor of FLOORS in Africa magazine, wishes Steven all the best for the future:
“Your presence in the industry is greatly valued and you will be sorely missed. Thank you so much for your kind words. It has always been a pleasure working with you and the team at FloorworX. Everyone at Media in Africa wishes you and your family the best.”
