Floor laying learner is proving that success is achieved through the collaboration of industry players.

It’s always exciting to recognise those who have advanced in the flooring industry, especially those who are training towards building a successful career within the industry. This highlights the importance of training and upskilling in our industry.

Case in point – Shadrack Dhlangamandhla, one of the learners funded by Belgotex Carpets who successfully completed his National Certificate: Installation of Floor Coverings in June 2015.

Turner Peirson Carpets & Flooring in Stafford, Johannesburg, assisted Shadrack with his six months experiential training. Shadrack created a good impression by working hard, showing team spirit, passion and discipline. After completing his practical experience, Turner Peirson offered Shadrack full time employment as a floor fitter. Six months into his employment Shadrack was promoted from a floor fitter to assistant store manager.

“The Flooring Industry Training Association (FITA) thanks Belgotex for funding Shadrack’s learnership at Sparrow FET College, and for giving youngsters an opportunity to improve their lives,” says Patty Vermaak, FITA Training Director. “It wouldn’t have been possible without you.”

FITA would also like to thank all who played a role in mentoring Shadrack. “Stories like these motivate us to go the extra mile for the learners we work with,” Patty emphasises. “May we enjoy many more success stories as we continue to make a difference in the lives of young South African men and women in the construction industry,” concludes Vermaak.
