Sika SA was recently awarded ISO 9001 certification.

Sika SA is proud to announce that their Gauteng factory was recently awarded ISO 9001 certification. The ISO 9001 is a quality Management System that helps organisations to monitor and improve their performance, to drive efficiencies, client service and product excellence. The company’s Head Office in KwaZulu-Natal received their ISO 9001 standard in 1995 and subsequently adopted ISO 14001 in 2006 and OHSAS 18001 standards in 2011.

Paul Adams, Managing Director of Sika SA, says that all Sika factories are required as a minimum, to be ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 certified.

“Being certified and complying with the requirements of the standards enables us to operate at, and hold ourselves accountable to a higher quality operational and performance level. It gives us and our customers the additional confidence that we are working towards international levels and standards,” says Paul.

The system that Sika has in place at their Head Office helped the company with the process of extending the certification to the Gauteng branch, as they worked from the structure and framework already in place. Consequently, no new standards had to be adopted for the audit.

“It is important that the Gauteng branch be audited regularly (the certification body does surveillance audits annually and our certificates are valid for a three year period) to ensure compliance with the requirements of the standard as well as to identify gaps in the system and areas for continual improvement,” concludes Paul.
