Africa’s first focused trade fair for furniture, décor and design has been launched, and has made a significant impact on the industry.

Considered an important décor, furniture and retail event on the African continent, the inaugural Inspire Trade Expo, which took place in July 2014, was the brainchild of exposition expert Rina Fortman. She was the original Director of SARCDA (South Africa’s Premier Toy, Gift and Décor Trade Show) for many years, and also chaired the Exhibition Association of Southern Africa (EXSA).

This event was a controlled show, where every single visitor had to pass a host of stringent criteria in order to be permitted access, due to the fact that the focus was on quality trade visitors as opposed to thousands of consumers. According to Rina, the Inspire Trade Expo was conceived to promote décor, design and furniture to the retail, design and hospitality industries in order to strengthen the trade of prominent local products and manufacturing.

This very first show did indeed attract quality trade buyers and the Inspire team believe 2015 will  definitely be a year focused on growing the trade of buyers by SA producers vastly expanding their marketing strategy into Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa. The feedback has been extremely positive, and greatly accepted by industry as many are now already clamouring for prime positions in 2015.

The 2 800 buyers who attended the event included a good blend of retailers, architects, hotels, lodges, interior decorators and designers, as well as corporate procurement within the industry. The Expo also featured the retail segment, which included presentations from some of the leading countries in this regard, also with demonstrations of hi-tech products.

As noted by Dave Nemeth, a Trend Forecaster who is the business consultant to the show, the retail sector will certainly grow at this expo in the years to come as retailers scramble to be at the forefront of innovation. As a result, any key roleplayers within this sector with exciting retail solutions or products are encouraged to embrace this expo to showcase what they can offer the industry.

Bookings have already opened for 2015 and sponsorship opportunities are already being considered for 2015.
