Having sponsored the supply and installation of Sikafloor-261 SS2 for the workshop floor at VN Naik School for the Deaf in Newlands/Durban in 2011, Sika has again come to the rescue of the school.
Highly impressed with the finish and grateful for the generous donation, Dean Pillay, Income Development Officer at the school, approached Mervyn Naidoo, KwaZulu-Natal branch manager, for further sponsorship by Sika.
The floors of ten classrooms in the junior block were in urgent need of attention as the carpets were worn out and unhygienic for the kids. Mervyn recommended that they install Sikafloor-261 SS2 epoxy, as it requires minimal maintenance and is robust enough for the constant wear and tear of schoolkids’ feet.
The school arranged for the preparation work to be done by stripping the carpets and removing the glue left behind. Then Mervyn and his team rallied together to apply the flooring themselves. On the first day they applied the primer and the following day they applied the self-levelling Sikafloor 261 SS2, in Brown.
Sika’s KZN branch has taken VN Naik School under its wing, so when they are able to help out with maintenance Mervyn makes sure that Sika makes things happen.
