First licence holder of the Southern African Vinyls Association’s (SAVA) vinyl product label announced.
Belgotex Floors was recently announced as the first licence holder of the Southern African Vinyls Association’s (SAVA) vinyl. product label. All vinyl products from Belgotex Floors will now bear this mark of quality and environmental excellence. In order to receive this label, the company has proven that its vinyl products comply with SAVA’s Product Stewardship Programme (PSP).
Delanie Bezuidenhout, CEO of SAVA, says the programme consists of a stringent set of long-term, self-administered objectives created to promote the interests of vinyl business throughout the entire PVC supply chain.
“By voluntarily signing the PSP, our members have committed themselves to the responsible and sustainable use of additives, supporting a sustainable vinyl recycling programme thereby ensuring a healthy and robust industry,” says Bezuidenhout.
The vinyl. mark of quality was launched to the industry last year. Bezuidenhout says that SAVA has received a lot of support and interest from members who can see the value of this label on their products, but that obtaining the label is no easy feat.
“The process to qualify as a licensee is no easy or fast journey as we have to ensure that each potential licensee meets the necessary criteria of excellence that we have set out for them to achieve,” says Bezuidenhout.
Belgotex Floors Chairman Stephan Colle says the company is proud of taking yet another “first step” that will become a milestone for others to follow.
“Thanks to the work SAVA is doing, we are optimistic and excited about what the future holds for the vinyls industry in South Africa,” comments Colle.
