“The composite promise offers the ideal solution to all your decking needs. What is this promise?

Eva-Last specialises in wood plastic composite products, offering the industry a vast range of solutions. The majority of Eva-Last’s products are in the flooring segment, but Eva-Last also offers balustrading, facades, pergolas and more.

Three words define us: composite, building, specialists,” highlights Eva-Last director Nathan Chapman. “We have a holistic understanding of our products, since we are involved in the design and manufacture of our own products and don’t just source and supply another predefined product to our unique African market.”

When Eva-Last started supplying decking products to the industry several years ago, the market was sceptical due to the unfamiliarity and high costs of composite. However the potential benefits of a long life composite are clear: maintenance-free, environmentally friendly, insect-repellent, stainresistant, UV-resistant and not requiring sanding or sealant.

“This is what prompted us to introduce the composite decking product offering, and today we see ourselves as a company who understand our products better than anyone else in the industry,” he continues. “The product’s reputation speaks for itself, and while costs may not have decreased, clients experience a lower cost for the benefit they get over time due to ‘everlasting’ quality regardless of the initial price.”

Eva-Last has recently launched some innovative new products into the local market: Infinity is the latest product range that uses a regular Eva-tech WPC core for the bulk of the product and is capped with a thin plastic finish on the surface. The benefits are that the core contains no wasted UV or other additives – they are all introduced in the thin cap at much higher concentrations. The manufacturing technology also allows the capstock to be manufactured with an infinitely-variable colour finish. This visual finish is more analogous to a normal timber.

“The development of our composite products and systems is what Eva-Last is all about. We can introduce products into this marketplace ourselves, fully confident that they function appropriately in our tough environment. Our knowledge allows us to advise our customers to use these products in innovative or simply the most appropriate manner. We do not rely on other people – we rely on first-hand application experience and data.”

“2014 will see the growth of coextruded products such as Infinity in composite decking. This great technology will be coming to the fore in terms of composite products,” he concludes.
