While Wendy Mitrovich has only recently been appointed as Brand Manager at Polyflor SA, she has been involved with the company for many years. She initially did design work and training for the company and was later employed full-time.
Wendy says she enjoys working in such a niche industry and expects positive growth in the flooring market.
“The local flooring industry is quite a close-knit community and although competition is rife, I do believe there is much room for collaboration. Each of the large players has a certain level of specialisation and expertise which can hugely benefit the industry. The intricacies of the installation process add an interesting dimension and there is an enormous job to do in educating the various stakeholders. The demand for vinyl is most definitely growing and it’s fast being recognised for all its incredible attributes and benefits. The designs on offer are so inspiring and beautiful!” says Wendy.
Wendy adds that it would be great to see the South African flooring industry collaborate more to ensure quality products are being offered across the board.
“Collaborating to ensure quality product offerings across the board and superior standards of installation, no matter the choice of floor covering, are what I hope for the sector over the next five years. I would also like to see the entire industry embracing FITA. There is a dire need to improve our local skills and it is in everyone’s best interest to encourage the return of skilled artisans who take pride in their craft,” concludes Wendy.
